With close proximity to downtown Fort Myers, Naples and Sarasota, residents are close to it all, yet far enough removed to feel like a retreat.

Leisure Activities/Sports

  • With an average annual temperature of 70.3 degrees Fahrenheit and sunshine nearly 365 days a year Florida has ideal weather for playing golf. The Fort Myers area has over 50 public and private golf courses and has earned a reputation of having some of the most sought after golf courses in the world.  The River Hall Golf Club is one course you can’t miss.  This championship golf course was designed by Davis Love III. 
  • Southwest Florida’s coastline offers plenty of opportunities for fishermen to enjoy backwater, offshore, fly and flats fishing.
  • Fort Myers offers many boating and cruising opportunities, including cruising along the Caloosahatchee River, the Intercoastal Waterway, or the Gulf of Mexico, even take a day cruise to the Florida Keys.
  • For those looking for adventure, rent a sailboat, kayak or canoe. You can plan your own trip or take an excursion with a naturalist guide. There are hundreds of miles of beach, back bays, aquatic preserves, estuaries, creeks and rivers to explore.
  • There are many Islands off of the coast to discover.  Take a boat to the Barrier Islands (North Captiva, Cayo Costa, Gasparilla Island).  Travel to Sanibel and Captiva Islands for shelling and fishing.  Or set out for Cape Coral’s sandy beaches and public fishing pier.

Inland Attractions

  • At the Fort Myers Historical Museum you will find information on early settlers of Southwest Florida including the Calusa, Paleo and Seminole Indians and an extensive artifacts collection.
  • If you are looking for a place to interact with the kids, the Imaginarium Hands-On Museum offers fun for the whole family. This science museum features more than 60 fun and educational exhibits allowing children to learn about the environment, weather, physics and other topics.
  • The Calusa Nature Center has a museum, nature trails, aviary and planetarium. Visit the museum to learn more about Southwest Florida's natural history. Learn all about constellations, planets, star clusters and galaxies in the planetarium.
  • Step back in time by visiting Thomas Edison and Henry Ford's winter estates, the nation's 9th most visited historic home. You can take an extended guided tour of the homes, museum, laboratory and gardens.
  • The Florida weather is ideal for eating outdoors, and many restaurants in downtown Fort Myers and Fort Myers Beach offer outdoor dining. Times Square at Fort Myers Beach has several outdoor restaurants.
  • The Barbara B. Mann Performing Arts Hall is the largest proscenium stage in Southwest Florida, where Broadway’s best graces the stage as well as legendary stars such as Tony Bennett and Johnny Mathis.
  • Broadway Palm Diner Theatre is Southwest Florida's most entertaining destination. The theatre provides top quality entertainment along with award-winning meals.
  • Try your luck at the Seminole Casino in Immokalee. Open 24 hours a day 7 days a week, the Seminole Casino has high paying gaming machines, live action poker and excellent dining.
  • Lee County's Resident Professional Symphony Offers Classical, Pops, and Chamber Orchestra Concerts.
  • There is plenty of shopping to do in Fort Myers including shops, bistros, clothing and jewelry boutiques, art galleries, antiques, and sidewalk cafes.  The Bell Tower Shops are a newly renovated plaza. The Edison Mall is the largest mall in Southwest Florida. And the Tanger and Miromar Outlet Centers have top designer and great brand name outlet stores.

State Parks and Recreation

  • Estero Bay Preserve State Park is the first aquatic preserve established in Florida, and is one of the most productive estuaries in the state. The bay is home to a wide variety of wildlife, including the bald eagle. Visitors can canoe or kayak in the bay or on the Estero River
  • Lover’s Key State Park boasts wide sandy beaches, clean clear water, and the feeling of being "away from it all. It is known for its excellent shelling, nature trails, bird watching, and fishing
  • Located at the foot of the Fort Myers Beach Sky Bridge is Lynn Hall Memorial Park and Pier.  The 560-foot pier stretches into the Gulf of Mexico and is a fine spot for fishing and enjoying sea breezes
  • Inside the Ostego Bay Foundation you will find many exhibits about the beach, the estuary, storm water runoff, pollution and other fresh water inflow issues. Salt-water aquariums and touch tanks help teach visitors about the preservation, and enhancement of the marine environment.
  • The J. N. "Ding" Darling National Wildlife Refuge is a refuge for native and migratory birds and resident amphibians, reptiles and mammals. It is a 6,000-acre sanctuary where a visitor can see large numbers of birds and reptiles in their natural habitat.
  • Useppa Island is a historic private island retreat located on Florida’s Southwest Gulf Coast between Captiva and Pine Island. Useppa is a storybook setting with picturesque white cottages, pink pathways and lush vegetation. The only way to visit Useppa is to be a club member or guest, or take a ride on Captiva Cruises.
